Library Assistant of the Year 2018

Our Warmest Contratulations go to Hannah Marsden for her acheivement on being a finalist for Library Assistant of the Year 2018

On Friday 16th March, Year 11 student, Hannah Marsden attended the award ceremony for the Pupil Library Assistant Award. Hannah was a finalist for this very prestigious national award, which is run by the Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals (CILIP) and the School Library Association (SLA).

The Head Teacher, Mrs Chong, Miss Burkett the school librarian and Hannah’s family were invited as special guests of Hannah.

The ceremony was held at the impressive government building, Portcullis House, and many authors attended. By the end of the day, Hannah had collected over 20 new novels, all of which were signed by the authors in attendance. The ceremony was positive, uplifting and it was a joy to recognise the hard work of Hannah and also the other pupil librarians from many different parts of the country. The important role that reading and libraries play in society was also celebrated.

Afterwards, we were given a guided tour of the Houses of Parliament. The tour was fascinating and we were very privileged to see the inside the House of Commons and the House of Lords.
