GCSE excellence at Ribston Hall

Year 11 students posted an impressive set of GCSE results today, with 58.17% of the results being grades 9-7, a 9% increase on our last exam-based GCSE results in 2019 and well above the national average of 27%.

  • The number of examination outcomes achieving a grade 9 are the highest in the history of Ribston Hall, even surpassing the teacher-assessed results awarded in 2020.
  • 36% of Ribston Hall’s GCSE results were a grade 8 or 9, equivalent to the old A* grade or above.
  • Students scored on average a grade 7 in their best 8 GCSEs (equivalent to the old A grade), which is half a grade higher than in previous years and delivers an average attainment 8 score of 70.

This student cohort has had a particularly tricky GCSE journey with extended periods of remote learning and restrictions in place in the school environment due to the ongoing pandemic, which makes their achievements even more remarkable.

Headteacher Mrs Sarah Colombini said “This is an outstanding set of results for Ribston Hall students and I am absolutely delighted for them. Our students have worked so hard to achieve this significant improvement in results, that are almost 10% better than our last set of comparable results in 2019. We are incredibly proud of our students and hope they share our pride in their fantastic performance.

“Armed with an impressive set of results and having discovered their own potential thanks to our approach of focusing on holistic development as well as academic progress, our students are well equipped to begin their next stage of education. Most of our students will continue their studies with A level courses and we’re delighted these results give them the freedom to choose the best courses for them.”

Zaina Ginwalla achieved an impressive 9 grade 9 results and is joining Ribston Hall Sixth Form next month to study Biology, Chemistry and Spanish. She commented “I am very proud of the results I achieved. All of my teachers have been so supportive and pushed me to do as well as I could. I’m really looking forward to staying on for Sixth Form. The teachers are passionate about their subjects and have made learning an enjoyable experience.”

Kiara Barber earned a staggering 11 GCSEs, including 5 grade 9 results, and is looking forward to joining Ribston Hall Sixth Form to study A levels in Biology, History and Drama.
