Transition in to Year 12

It is well known that students that have a real interest and read around subjects will often do better at A-level. Thinking ahead, universities and employers are looking for enthused, engaged and excellent candidates. Cambridge University have stated, "As our admissions decisions are based on academic criteria we expect to see evidence of students' super-curricular activities and wider engagement with their wider area of academic interest such as reading and other exploration relevant to the course applied for".
With this in mind, one way for you to start to get ahead is to read more. The Oxford University Press produces over 500 titles in their "Very Short Introductions" range. These concise and original introductions give an excellent background to the major academic subjects as well as many other topics, and we would highly recommend using them for further research: Very Short Introductions. Below you will find the induction documentation that will need to be completed and handed in to the Sixth Form office or to your tutor on the first day back. Alongside this below you will find summer induction preparation work for each of your chosen subject areas which will need to be completed in order to gain entry to these courses in September. We wish you a restful summer and look forward to seeing you in September.
