We are introducing biometric scanners for use at canteen tills and on school printers to streamline processes, reduce the reliance on physical fobs, and improve overall efficiency across the school. The biometric system uses a secure thumbprint template that captures specific characteristics—not a full fingerprint. This means the data cannot be used outside the system and is not personally identifiable.
Key Information:
Thumb template scans will be arranged for all students.
Existing students may continue using their current fobs during the transition period.
New students can either provide consent to use biometrics or will be issued a secure PIN code.
Printing and canteen payments will be accessible via biometric scan, login credentials, or fob/PIN code depending on the student’s setup.
Parental consent is required for the storage and use of student biometric data. Consent can be provided through the Arbor app, under the Parental Consents section.
For more details, please refer to our Biometric Data Protection Policy
Students currently entitled to free school meals can purchase food at breakfast, breaktime or lunchtime depending on their preference. The allowance for food for the full day is £3. Parents will need to top up via Arbor if students go over the £3.00 allowance. Funds do not roll over if the allowance is not used on the day.
Please visit the Gloucestershire County Council Website to apply for school meals.
Your child might be able to get free school meals if you get any of the following:
Children who get paid these benefits directly, instead of through a parent or guardian, can also get free school meals.
Schools continue to face financial challenges and the pressures on school funding are unremitting. Like all schools, and particularly in Gloucestershire savings must continue to be made in order to balance the budget each year.
A small monthly donation or a one-off payment really can make all the difference!

Please note that where possible, we require at least 24 hours’ notice in writing of taking a student out of school.
After school, the library remains open Monday to Friday until 4pm to access books or for students to get ahead with their homework. After this time students can remain in school in the canteen unsupervised.

We have a number of peripatetic teachers who visit Ribston Hall to deliver regular music lessons across a range of instruments. If you wish your child to begin lessons, please contact the teachers below directly to ascertain availability and associated costs. Although peripatetic teachers use the school facility, arrangements and communication should be made directly between peripatetic teachers and parents and not the school.
Please follow this link: Letter from Gloucestershire Music
The letter provides more information on instrumental lessons and instrument hire - this applies to the parents or guardians of students who wish to learn Bass Guitar, Double Bass or Piano.
