  • Entrance Test Familiarisation Materials

    Future Stories Community Enterprise (FSCE) became the new provider of the Grammar School Entrance Test in 2026. The test is designed to align closely with the work students experience in their primary schools. Maths and English remain part of the assessment, so preparation can focus on developing the maths skills they are learning in school, along with reading a wide and exciting range of books across different genres.

    FCSE has produced the following familiarisation guides for parents and their children:

    Free support for Pupil Premium students via our Shaping Futures programme

    At Ribston, we want every child in our local area to have a fair chance to join our school and feel part of our community. We are part of the 'Shaping Futures' programme which was set up by Pate's Grammar School and is a partnership project with the other grammar schools in Gloucestershire.

    Our aim is to encourage equal opportunity regardless of a child's background and by widening access to grammar school for Pupil Premium children. We do this by identifying and removing barriers there may for local families and providing support and resources that they can easily access.

    The Shaping Futures programme begins when Head Teachers' from our Primary Partnership schools nominate high-attaining Pupil Premium students. After this, we are in contact with families who can register on the programme and families then start their journey with us. This includes:

    • Free access to Grammar School Entrance Test Familiarisation Materials and the Atom Learning Platform. This includes learning resources and practice questions covering English, Maths, verbal reasoning and non-verbal reasoning, along with mock tests);
    • Access to English, Maths and Non-Verbal reasoning familiarisation lessons and materials;
    • A free programme of events such as Computing Days, STEM Days and Performance Days (where students can take part in Music, Dance, Drama and PE activities);
    • A mentoring programme with our Year 12 students; and
    • A dedicated Parent Help-Desk for Entrance Test Registration.

    If your child has been eligible for free school meals at any point in the last six years, please register via the following link: Atom Learning: Ribston Hall High School Registration. You will be given free access to Atom Home when your child’s Pupil Premium status has been verified by their primary school.

    You can find out more about our Shaping Futures Programme on our Shaping Futures page. Further information about Pupil Premium can be found on our Inclusion page and Statutory Information page.
