Ribston Hall High School Celebrates Positive Ofsted Report Under New National Framework

Ribston is delighted to share the outcome of its recent Ofsted inspection, which took place in May 2026. The final report provides a highly positive reflection of our school, recognising the strength of its culture, the quality of education provided, and the exceptional outcomes achieved by students.

Inspectors highlighted a number of defining features that make Ribston such a special place to learn and grow. The report praises pupils who “excel across the curriculum” and consistently achieve academically above national averages. It also recognises the school's culture of “kindness and respect”, where exemplary behaviour and high attendance contribute to a positive and purposeful learning environment.

The inspection team commended Ribston's ambitious and carefully planned curriculum, which challenges and supports learners of all abilities. Teaching was recognised as highly effective, underpinned by strong subject expertise and a shared commitment to academic excellence. Inspectors also celebrated the school's extensive personal development provision, including the Ribston Baccalaureate and Ambition Pathway, which help students develop the skills, confidence and experiences needed for future success.

At the heart of the report is recognition of the school's students. Inspectors describe Ribston pupils as confident, articulate and intellectually curious young people who embrace challenge, support one another and make meaningful contributions to school life. These qualities reflect the values that underpin the Ribston experience: developing ambitious academic learners, confident and creative thinkers, and students who are proud to belong to the school community.

The inspection was conducted under Ofsted's revised framework, which introduces a broader range of judgements and raises expectations across all areas of school provision. The framework also includes an additional judgement of "Exceptional", above the previous Outstanding grade, making it one of the most demanding inspection models introduced to date.

Within this context, Ribston was judged to meet or exceed the expected standard across all areas, with the majority of provision recognised as being at a strong standard. Importantly, the expected standard represents a high national benchmark and reflects rigorous professional and statutory expectations across the education sector.

As part of the inspection process, areas for further development were also identified. These focus on strengthening the precision of evaluating impact, particularly in relation to SEND provision and aspects of post-16 oversight. These priorities align closely with areas already identified within the school's own self-evaluation and will help shape the next stage of its improvement journey.

Reflecting on the outcome, our leadership team described the report as a celebration of the collective efforts of students, staff, parents and trustees, and a testament to the strength of the Ribston community.

The report paints a picture of a purposeful, ambitious and inclusive school where students thrive both academically and personally. It reflects a community in which young people feel safe, valued and inspired to achieve their best, while remaining rooted in the values of kindness, respect and ambition.

Ribston would like to thank all members of its community for the role they have played in this success. The strong partnership between home and school continues to be one of Ribston's greatest strengths, and the school looks forward to building on this positive outcome as it continues its journey of excellence.
