Pupil Premium funding is available for: 

• Families on a low income who are currently known to be eligible for Free School Meals; and 
• Children who have been looked after continuously for more than 6 months.

The support that we offer for Pupil Premium students includes:

• Providing high quality teaching and learning for all students that also focusses on closing the attainment gap for disadvantaged students;
• Developing our teaching and assessment strategies to support disadvantaged students in our school;
• Providing free school meals for eligible students*;
• Free 11+ familiarisation materials and KS2 support via the Atom Learning platform;
• Free textbooks and revision guides;
• Support with school trips and visits (such as residentials and academic day trips); and
• Uniform vouchers to cover the cost of a blazer, school shirts and a school skirt or trousers.

*Eligibility for Free School Meals (FSM) is being extended to include all households in receipt of Universal Credit. There will be two categories: 

• Targeted FSM (households receiving Universal Credit with annual earnings of £7,400 or less).
• Expanded FSM (households receiving Universal Credit but above this earnings threshold).

Please note: 

• Transitional protections will end from September 2026.
• The ‘Ever 6’ FSM measure will continue to apply to those who have previously met the targeted FSM criteria. 
• The local authority will conduct annual eligibility checks.

Please note: Pupil Premium funding is available for students in Years 7–11. Sixth Form students are able to apply for Free School Meals and the 16 -19 bursary. 

The Service Pupil Premium was introduced by the Department for Education (DfE) in recognition of the specific challenges children from service families face. The funding is for children of service families in Years 7 - 11.

16-19 Bursary

You could get a bursary to help with education-related costs if you’re aged 16 to 19 and:

• are studying at a publicly funded school or college in England (not a university) or
• are on a training course, including unpaid work experience.

A publicly funded school is one that does not charge you for attending it. A copy of our Bursary Policy and application form can be found on our Life in the Sixth Form page.

Ribston is committed to supporting young carers. Our pastoral team work together to provide a range of support for students and their families so that our young student carers can thrive in school.

Our pastoral team ensures that young student carers at Ribston receive bespoke support according to their individual needs. We also work closely with Gloucestershire Young Carers.

Our Young Carers Lead

Our Young Carers Lead is Mrs Debbie Hay. You can contact Mrs Hay by emailing dh@ribstonhall.gloucs.sch.uk

We work in partnership with the University of Oxford to provide local primary partnership schools with free boxes to support the teaching of primary science.

Part of the project involves providing practical experiments and equipment, and the other part involves providing training for primary teaching staff. We currently have four boxes that we loan to partnership schools - ChembOX, EarthbOX, MaterialsbOX and PhysicsbOX.

Under the Equality Act 2010, all schools must have an accessibility plan to ensure students with disabilities can fully engage in school life. This plan aims to:

• Increase participation in the curriculum;
• Improve the physical environment to enhance access to education and school services; and
• Provide information in accessible formats.
