  • Ribston Hall High School Celebrates Outstanding GCSE and A 'Level Success

Ribston Hall High School is celebrating exceptional examination results across both A Levels and GCSEs, marking one of the most successful years in recent memory.

Over 50% of students achieved grades A*- B in their A 'Levels and many subjects saw a significant rise in top grades.  STEM subjects have been a real strength this year. In GCSE Biology, Chemistry, and Physics we saw double the percentage of grade 9s compared with last year, while Maths recorded a 17% increase in top grades. This success reflects the investment in our STEM curriculum and the state-of-the-art science facilities that were opened in 2022.

    Exceptional Achievements

Most of our students secured places at their first-choice universities, including Bristol (Physics, Maths, Engineering, Medical Microbiology, Biochemistry, Psychology), Birmingham (Law, Neuroscience), Cardiff (Pharmacy, Radiotherapy, Physics), Sheffield (History), Bath (History), Plymouth (History), and Aberdeen (Neuroscience), with others having secured apprenticeships in subjects ranging from Finance to Cybersecurity.

GCSE's results marked a decade high (excluding Covid years) with one-third of results awarded at grades 8 & 9 and over 50% receiving top grades 9-7.

“We are delighted to share this year’s GCSE and A Level results. Our students’ academic achievements are outstanding, but their success goes far beyond the exams. It has been a pleasure to watch them grow, and through their hard work, alongside the support of our dedicated staff, achieve such exceptional grades. Every one of these students has made a hugely positive contribution to school life at Ribston, and we are immensely proud of their achievements.” Mr. Alec Waters, Headteacher

“I am incredibly proud of our students’ achievements this year and excited to see the opportunities ahead for them, with outstanding A ‘Level results and excellent EPQ outcomes. The majority of this cohort also completed their Ribston Baccalaureate, a unique programme that enhances skills and supports both academic excellence and holistic development, ensuring students are equipped to thrive at university and in the workplace. These achievements have strengthened applications to some of the UK’s top universities.” Sixth Form Lead, Mrs. Cat Nicklin

    Pride in Our School Community

These excellent results are a testament not only to the hard work and determination of our students, but also to the dedication of our staff, the support of our families, and the culture of praise and recognition we foster at Ribston Hall. We encourage our students to challenge themselves, grow in confidence, and celebrate success in all its forms. These outcomes showcase the strength of our school community, and we remain committed to ensuring that every student feels recognised and celebrated for their achievements, both within and beyond the classroom.

Congratulations once again to all our students — we are so proud of everything you have accomplished.
