Our purpose-built Sixth Form building 'Parrish' houses a spacious common room and a welcoming environment designed for study, socialising and relaxation.

Our Sixth Form café provides the perfect spot to grab a coffee or snack and catch up with friends between classes or study sessions. You can find out more about our current menu here: Sixth Form Menu.

Our Rosalind Franklin Science Centre opened in May 2022. Delivering a first-class learning environment for students, the science centre comprises six science labs and two preparation rooms. An array of rooftop photovoltaic solar panels is generating electricity to help power energy-efficient lighting and heating systems within the ‘Franklin’ building.

Ribston offers engaging lessons followed by consolidation in study periods and further reading. After which, I enjoy a pastry from the café while completing any homework.

Year 12 student

1. Academic Excellence: We encourage our students to prioritise their studies and aim for academic success. Our dress code policy reminds us that education is a serious commitment and that we strive for excellence in all areas of learning.
2. Professionalism and Maturity: Wearing smart business attire prepares you for the future and teaches you how to present yourself confidently and respectfully.
3. Pride in the Ribston Identity: Our dress code policy instils a sense of pride in our Ribston Sixth Form identity. We want to uphold our values and traditions, and also celebrate our students' unique personalities and strengths. By respecting the policy, our Sixth Form students can contribute to a positive environment that fosters personal and academic growth.

In summary, here are the key guidelines:

• Smart Business Attire: Choose tailored trousers, dresses or skirts, shirts/blouses, or smart tops that are tucked-in. Not jeans, track-suits, hoodies, trainers or crop tops. Clothes that can reflect your style while adhering to the smart business dress code. For specific guidance, please refer to points 3 to 8 in the Sixth Form Dress Code Policy.
• Smart Suit Jacket or Blazer: A well-fitted, neutral-coloured suit jacket or blazer is required for formal events and representing the school.

If your child is unwell please:

1. Call the Main School Office on 01452 382249 or
2. Use the Arbor our school communications App 

Please ensure that you do this on the first day of absence and every subsequent day after that. Please provide a note with a reason for your absence when they return to school. Please note students are not to ring in for themselves; we need confirmation from a parent or caregiver.

A request for absence during the school day can be made by completing and returning the form below. Please ensure that appropriate evidence for the occasion is given to the Head of Sixth Form. The form is here: Request for absence during the school day.

If your son or daughter is unwell during the school day and needs to go home, we will always telephone you first to inform you and ask you to collect them. If we are unable to contact you, we will use the emergency contact details you provide us with. If any of your contact details change at any time during your son or daughter’s time at Ribston, please let us know as soon as possible.

While we ask parents not to book holidays during term-time, we appreciate students may need to be out of school for other reasons. If you need to take your son or daughter out of school at any time, please put this in writing to the Head of Sixth Form, detailing your request.

If your son or daughter is attending a university open day or preparing for university activities, they need to collect a yellow form from the Sixth Form office in advance. 

16-19 Bursary

You could get a bursary to help with education-related costs if you’re aged 16 to 19 and:

• studying at a publicly funded school or college in England (not a university) or
• are on a training course, including unpaid work experience.

A publicly funded school is one that does not charge you for attending it. A copy of our Bursary Policy and application form can be found below.

Free School Meals

You may also be eligible for Free School Meals (FSM).

Important Information

Eligibility for Free School Meals (FSM) is being extended to include all households in receipt of Universal Credit. There will be two categories: 

• Targeted FSM (households receiving Universal Credit with annual earnings of £7,400 or less).
• Expanded FSM (households receiving Universal Credit but above this earnings threshold).

Please note: 

• Transitional protections will end from September 2026.
• The ‘Ever 6’ FSM measure will continue to apply to those who have previously met the targeted FSM criteria. 
• The local authority will conduct annual eligibility checks. 

If you believe your child may now be eligible, we encourage you to apply as soon as possible to ensure provision from September. You can find out more about Free School Meals on the Gloucestershire County Council website.
