Assessment, Feedback and Reporting

The documents linked below provide the key information and guidance in order to help you interpret your child's progress reports. This assessment approach was recently implemented and was developed through our work as part of our Recovery Strategy following the impact of the COVID pandemic. Progress Reports for Parents include four key areas of assessment which make up the Ribston Cognitive Qualities (RCQs), these are: Knowledge, Strategies, Application, Independence.

This framework aligns our assessment of learning with Ribston's Curriculum Intent and our ambitious teaching & learning strategy which focuses on metacognition (the process of thinking about one's own thinking and learning) to enhance academic progress.

Using evidence-based research from the Education Endowment Foundation (EEF) and the Chartered College of Teaching, the RCQs are an assessment of how well a student is learning in each subject rather than just an assessment of students' work. This document explains the key elements of our Progress Reporting system which we are keen to continue to responsively develop to ensure we continue to provide detailed and high quality feedback for parents and students.
